Swim Club 2021-2022

Hello Ladue Swim Club members and interested swimmers!

As you know the Ladue Swim Club has been closed since the spring of 2020.  I wanted to let you know that we have been working to bring the swim club back and begin our youth swim club programs again this winter.  Our former coaches have left and accepted other employment positions over the last year.  We have been trying for several months to recruit and hire qualified coaches to lead our program.     At this point in time we have not been successful at hiring any coaches primarily due to a lack of applicants and we must push back the starting date for the swim club. Our original hope was to send out registrations in September and begin swimming in November.  We will continue to recruit and work to hire coaches for the program.  Once we have a coaching staff in place, we will revise the swim club program and send out registration information to interested swimmers.  We apologize for the delay and if you know any great swim coaches please encourage them to apply.  Application information can be found on the Ladue School District website.

Please reach out to me with any questions and I hope to see you at the pool soon.

Sincerely,

Corey Miller

Ladue Swim Club Closed

Dear Ladue Swim Club Members,

The Ladue School District is currently closed until April 3rd.  Ladue Swim Club will be closed as long as the district remains closed.  I will be coordinating with the school district's activities office following spring break to determine when and if we can begin the spring swim program.  Payments have not been processed and I will hold payments until we are able to start the spring program.  If it becomes necessary to cancel the spring program, all payments will be returned to you.

I truly hope to see everyone at the pool soon.

Sincerely,

Corey  Miller

Thursday, January 30th

Good Evening All,
Tomorrow afternoon is the last Ladue High School Girls Swimming and Diving home meet for the year.  It should be a competitive meet starting at 4:15 PM if you would like to watch. They also plan to have a senior celebration at the end of their meet.  In anticipation that their event will run a little long, we are going to move all of the swim groups back by a 1/2 hour.

On Thursday:
Group 1 (Ages 5 to 7) will practice from 6:00 to 6:45 PM
Group 2 (Ages 8 to 10) will practice from 6:45 PM to 7:30 PM
Group 3 (Ages 11& up) will practice from 7:30 PM to 8:20 PM

We will have normal practice times this Saturday starting at 10 AM.

One other thing I would like to let you know about:
This weekend, Missouri Water Polo is sponsoring USA Water Polo Growth Specialist and 2004 Olympian Genai Kerr's return to St. Louis to lead the Missouri Water Polo Players Clinic February 1st & 2nd at MICDS (just up the road from Ladue High on N. Warson).  Additionally, there is a free Splashball Clinic for players 6-10 years old from 4-5 pm at MICDS on Saturday, February 1st.  Here is some info on the clinic:  https://5meter.com/collections/splashball/products/saint-louis-missouri-splashball-camp
In addition to Olympian Genai Kerr, there will be several college coaches and athletes and Olympic Development water polo coaches in attendance.
If any of your swimmers ages 6 to 10 are interested in trying water polo for an hour on Saturday, the splash ball is a free event but you have to register in advance. Most of our current swim coaches are or have been water polo players in addition to swimmers.

Thank you and see you at the pool soon!

Water Temperature

Dear Swim Club Members,
I hope your new year is off to a great start.  Last week, we had a mechanical failure at the pool that caused our water temperature to cool off.  The part was repaired by Monday, but as some of your swimmers may have noticed, the water temperature on Tuesday was cooler than it normally is.  With the volume of water that we have at the pool, it takes some time to return the temperature to normal.  While the younger swimmers found the water to be to cool, our high school swimmers really enjoyed the cooler temperatures.   The water temperature has returned to normal and will be much more comfortable for the younger swimmers this evening.

Thank you,

Corey  Miller

November 26

Good Afternoon Ladue Swim Club Parents,

Swim club is off to a great start this season.  Your swimmers have been working hard in the pool and hopefully you are already seeing some improvement in their skill level.

I just wanted to touch base about the schedule.  We do have swim club this evening Tuesday, November 26th.
We will not meet on Thursday (Happy Thanksgiving) or this coming Saturday, November 30th.  We'll resume practice next week on Tuesday, December 3rd.
We also will not have swim club next Saturday, December 7th.  There is an all-day high school swim meet here on the 7th and the pool is not available.

I just looked at the forecast and there is a possibility of severe weather in the area this evening.  The last forecast I saw predicted that it would begin between 8 and 9 PM this evening which would mean that swim club is finished or near finished for the evening.  If severe weather (including lighting) occurs during swim club we will clear the pool.  Swimmers would be directed to safe areas and it may be necessary to close down for the evening.  I will email you if we were to cancel and we would also post it on the swim club blog:  http://www.ladueschools.net/swimclub
The blog also has an updated calendar page with all swim club dates for the winter season posted as well.
Also remember that anytime the Ladue School District closes for inclement weather, Ladue Swim Club will be canceled as well.
Hopefully, the weather holds off for us this evening!

A couple of other notes, please talk with your swimmers about not being in other parts of the building before, during, or after practice.  Swimmers should come to the pool only.  Also please have a conversation with your swimmers about appropriate locker room behavior and about changing quickly before swimming and following swimming.  Swimmers should not be hanging out in the locker rooms.  Coaches and lifeguards periodically walk through the locker rooms but can not be stationed in there full time and effectively coach/supervise the pool.  Please let myself or one of the coaches know if you or your swimmer has any concerns.

I hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable Thanksgiving.

Thank you,

Corey  Miller

Hallway entrance

Hello Swim Club Families,
Just a couple of notes as we wrap up the season.  Next week (May 14/16) is our last swim practices of the school year.  We hope you have enjoyed the Ladue swim club program.  Our next program will be our winter program that begins in early November.  We will send out the registration link in mid to late September.

When you and your swimmers come this evening or next week and enter through the gym lobby, we are no longer able to make a right and travel to the pool hallway due to some construction. You may need to enter door #15 (just up from the gym lobby, next to the garage door) and then travel down the hallway and make a right to the pool, or enter the gym lobby and travel through the gym into the hallway.  Please remind your swimmer to go directly to the pool and not play in the gym or other areas of the building.

Thanks and see you at the pool.

Good Morning All,

The Ladue Swim Club winter 2018-2019 registration page will be open Tuesday morning September 25th, 2018 at 7:30 AM for registration into Ladue Swim Club.  I expect this program will fill very quickly and the registration page will be turned off when the program is full. Registration is limited to the first 50 swimmers per age group. Our last program filled in just a couple of hours. After registration closes, there will be a wait list page that you may add your swimmer to.  The program will meet on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and some Saturday mornings beginning Thursday, November 8th, 2018 and ending on March 9th, 2019.

January 9, 2018

Happy New Year Swim Club Families,

I hope everyone had a nice break.

I just wanted to send a quick reminder that Ladue Swim Club will resume tomorrow night Tuesday, January 9th, 2018. We also have practice this Thursday and there is no scheduled practice this coming Saturday.
Because of a high school swim meet tomorrow afternoon, it is highly likely that we will need to start swim club late tomorrow evening.  We will plan to start each group 20 minutes late.
Age group 5 to 7 will begin at 5:50 PM
Age group 8 to 10 will begin at 6:40 PM
Age group 11 & up will begin at 7:30 PM and go until 8:20 PM
Over winter break the pools HVAC units were successfully replaced and a new heat exchange unit was installed.  We also had a pump replaced that helps circulate water through the heating units.  I'm happy to report that as of this afternoon the pool's water temperature is much more comfortable for our swim club members.
I hope to see everyone at the pool tomorrow.
Coach Miller

Swim Club and the Ladue Pool

Good Afternoon Swim Club Families,

Here is the upcoming schedule for Ladue Swim Club:

Saturday, December 16, 2017 Practice at normal times: 10 AM, 10:45 AM, and 11:15 AM.
Tuesday, December 19th, 2017 Practice at normal times: 5:30 PM, 6:20 PM, 7:10 PM.  We'll give the kids some play time at the end of each group.  This will be our last practice prior to winter break.  We had a practice scheduled for Thursday, December 21 but we are going to cancel this practice because of some maintenance that is occurring in the building beginning on the 21st after school lets out. I'll explain in more detail below.

Tuesday, January 9, 2018 Resume practice for swim club following winter break. There is a high school swim meet scheduled for this day, so our practice times may be delayed by 15 to 20 minutes.  We'll plan on beginning at regular times but we may have to push them back just a bit if the meet runs long.

Starting on December 21 in the afternoon, the pool's HVAC units are being replaced.  The contractor that is replacing the units plans to cut heating service sometime on Thursday the 21st in preparation to remove the rooftop units and place new ones on the roof on Friday the 22nd.  There is a very large crane that is scheduled to make the move on the 22nd and the units need to be prepped in order to remove the old units from the roof and place the new units on the roof.   The reason we are opting to not to practice on the 21st in the evening is because we can not be sure that we will have well conditioned and heated air for the pool area. Without heating, the air temperature could drop substantially by the time that are practice starts at 5:30 PM.
This is all very exciting and when we come back in January we should have a brand new HVAC system in place.  While the pool itself will not look any different, hopefully we are able to condition the air more efficiently.  In addition, we are having a pump replaced and a new heat exchanger installed that will help us to keep a more consistent water temperature for the swimmers.  The contractors only have limited time over the break to complete the project so they are starting as soon as they can after the school day. The pool will be closed from December 21 to January 7 to give them time to complete the project and condition the water for swimming.

In other news, Coach Andrew, who started the season with us, moved home to Ohio to be with his family for month. Sometime after the new year, he will be moving to New Zealand to play professional water polo in the New Zealand league.  We are actively looking for a replacement coach for Andrew and hope to have a new coach in January.  Coach Salman and I have been filling in for Andrew until we can find a replacement  coach.

I hope you have a nice break and happy holidays,
Corey

Swim Club Meet

Good Morning All,

Important meet and other information

Good Afternoon All,
I am just going over some dates for upcoming Ladue Swim Club events and the end of the winter season.
There is swim club tonight (Thursday, February 16th, 2017) at normal times.
Swim club is not scheduled to meet on Saturday, February18th, 2017.
On Thursday, February 23rd we would like to have an inter-squad swim meet.  We would like all age groups to meet at the pool at 6 PM for warm-ups and then we will swim a mock meet in preparation for an upcoming meet with the CSP Tideriders team.  We will start the mock meet at 6:30 PM. Groups will not meet at the normal times.  All groups should meet at 6 PM and we anticipate being finished by about 7:30 PM.  We hope all the swimmers can make it.
On Tuesday, March 7  we will have a meet with the CSP Tideriders team.  The warm-up time for all age groups will be at 5:30 PM.  The meet will begin at 6 PM.  We anticipate the meet taking between 1 and 1.5 hours.  Each swimmer will have the opportunity to swim a race in their age group in each of the four strokes.  It is a fun event and we do not collect times, we just race.
The last scheduled winter swim club will meet on Saturday, March 11th.
I plan to open the registration window for the spring swim club on Friday, February 24th. This session will fill very quickly.  The spring swim club will begin on Tuesday, March 28th and run through May 18th.  I will send out additional information about this.
Also, the Ladue Swimming Pool will be closed this summer due to high school renovations and building construction.  Our close date is still to be determined, but we anticipate closing just after school is out this May.

I hope everyone has a nice President's weekend and we'll see you at the pool.
